1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you sign up we receive your name, email address and profile photo from our sign-in provider (Clerk). We assign you a member ID and record when your account was created.
Listings & Photos: Titles, descriptions, prices, gear specs, location you enter, and the photos you upload. Serial numbers or unique marks you record on a listing are kept private and shown only to you and our team (and used during return reviews).
Orders & Payments: Order details such as item, price, fees, fulfillment method, tracking numbers, meetup times and places, claims, return photos and reviews. Card details and checkout addresses are entered on Stripe's secure checkout page and processed by Stripe. Sportsman's Stash never sees or stores your full card number.
Messages: Messages you send through the platform, including offers and counteroffers.
Safety Signals: Automated scam warnings on messages, photo-check results, duplicate-photo matches, no-show reports and an internal risk score used to protect members.

Running the Marketplace: To create your account, publish listings, process payments through Stripe, track seller balances and payouts, handle claims and returns, and show ratings, badges and reliability information.
StashSnap AI & Photo Checks: Photos and listing details you submit may be sent to our AI provider (OpenAI, through Emergent's AI service) to suggest listing details and prices, and to estimate whether a photo appears AI-generated or to be a stock image. Results are suggestions or labels. A person reviews any appeal.
Safety & Fraud Prevention: Messages are automatically scanned for common scam patterns (for example off-platform payment requests), and photos are compared for reuse across sellers. Accounts with repeated high-risk activity may be paused until our team reviews them.
Emails: We send transactional and notification emails (offers, orders, claims, meetup reminders, saved-search digests and new-gear alerts from sellers you follow) through our email provider. You can switch off any email category on your Email Preferences page.

With Other Members: Your display name, profile photo, public listings, ratings, reviews, badges and no-show count are visible to others. Buyers and sellers in a transaction see the order, messages and meetup details they need to complete it.
With Service Providers: We share only what is needed with providers that run the platform: Clerk (sign-in), Stripe (payments and refunds), our email delivery provider, our AI provider for StashSnap and photo checks, and our cloud hosting, database and file storage providers.
Legal & Safety: We may disclose information if required by law, to respond to valid legal process, or to protect members, the public or Sportsman's Stash from fraud or harm.
No Sale of Personal Data: We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for targeted advertising.

Essential Cookies Only: We use cookies and local storage needed to keep you signed in and to run checkout securely. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Retention: We keep account, listing and order records while your account is active and as long as needed for payouts, disputes, fraud prevention, tax and legal obligations. Messages and photos tied to completed orders may be kept for dispute and safety purposes.
Security: Data is sent over encrypted connections, access to admin tools is restricted, and payments are handled by Stripe. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and never share sign-in codes.

Access, Correction & Deletion: You can ask to see, correct, download or delete your personal information by emailing us. Some records (for example completed orders, payouts or fraud reports) may be kept where the law allows or requires.
Virginia & Other State Rights: Depending on where you live, including under the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, you may have rights to confirm, access, correct, delete and obtain a copy of your data, and to appeal our response. We do not sell personal data or use it for targeted advertising or profiling with legal effects.
Email Choices: Turn off any email category on your Email Preferences page, or use the link in any email.
Age: Sportsman's Stash is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Updates: We may update this policy as the platform changes. We'll update the date at the top and, for material changes, notify members by email or on the site.
